What I Use - Running a Game

As GMs/DMs/Head Yahoos, we need a few more tools than just dice and a character sheet. Here’s what I bring to the table:

Laptop – Dell Inspiron i3162 (http://amzn.to/2o4gWde). I don’t need a ton of storage, as this laptop only needs to access some websites, Google Drive, and some .pdfs on a hard drive (in case wifi fails).

Chrome – I use a Google account to log into Chrome, as I put some files on Google Drive such as NPCs and notes for the game session. Open tabs in Chrome include: Open Legend core rules, PCs off Heromuster (https://openlegend.heromuster.com/character), Google Drive, and donjon’s initiative tracker tool (http://donjon.bin.sh/d20/initiative/).

*Keeping settings in Chrome the same every time: Login to Chrome with a Google account, and open the tabs you want to keep active. In Chrome Settings, and under the On startup heading, click the radial button to activate “Open a specific page or set of pages.” Next, click the “Set Pages” link and then select the “Use Current Pages” button. This will set your tabs to open when you log into any Chrome browser using your Google account.

Note Keeping – A notebook and pen.

If Wifi fails – I keep important game documents on a microSD card.

If computer fails – I print out important notes and NPCs and place them in a folder.

Awesome @dclasair! Those are great tools for new Head Yahoos  and veterans alike!
I always like to have a set of speakers and a playlist for different kinds of encounters/environments ready to go as well.
