Homebrew Feat: Enigmatic Mind

I may have gone too far this time, but hear me out!

I was thinking about making a new perk to be called Mysterious. I was going to say that once per session, you can add your Deception attribute score to your Resolve defense for a non-combat roll that targets your Resolve. But then I thought, “Hey! What if I made it a feat instead ?!”

Voilà! Check it out! Bad idea? Good idea, but unbalanced? Tell me what you think!

Enigmatic Mind (I-II)

Cost
3 points

Prerequisites

  • Tier 1: Deception 4
  • Tier 2: Deception 6

Description
Whether you have trained in mental fortitude, or you have an unnatural psyche, your brain is a complete mystery to others.

Effect

  • Tier 1: Your Resolve defense is now 10 + Presence + Deception.
  • Tier 2: Your Resolve defense is now 10 + Presence + Deception + Will.

Tier 1, at 3 points, actually does less for you than tier 1 of Attribute Substitution does at 2 points. I like the concept of using your deception in place of will for certain sneaky characters, but that’s what Attribute Substitution is for.

Tier 2, on the other hand, can’t be accomplished through Attribute Substitution. It also has the possibility of raising your Resolve significantly. I don’t know what other people think about that, but I would need to give some thought to it.

You are absolutely right![quote=“Carl, post:2, topic:208”]

I have no idea why Attribute Substitution didn’t cross my mind!

Tier 2 might be too game-breaking to find a way to make it worth trying to balance.
