For more in depth Unarmed Strike

This is from a discussion that happened over in Discord with @Skysear @ConradCurtis and a few others.

I ended up showing a different option for an unarmed strike, and then Sky showed something,s o thought I’d post it here for people to consider, as well as after this first post, some other takes on Unarmed Strike to show what you could do with it.


Untrained Unarmed Strike

One-Handed Melee, Forceful, Precise, Delayed Ready
WL: 0

Trained Unarmed Strike

One-Handed Melee, Forceful, Precise, Swift
WL: 2 (time spent training)

Note that per equipment building rules this is actually only WL 1, but to make it a bit more for the time spent training under someone, WL 2 was picked. This can, of course, be modified by a GM.


But why?

This can help aid in the Disarmed bane being a bit more effective for people, as well as give a bit more distinction for characters that want to have actually trained to utilize their hands.

Untrained is incapable of being used with multi-attack specialist, and it also can’t be used with a superior action unless you readied it the turn before, so it’s still a hindrance if you’re disarmed.

Two-Handed Melee, Forceful, Precise, Reach, Slow
Banes: Stunned, Knockdown
WL: 1 (training time to learn)

Massively Quick Unarmed Strike

Two-Handed Melee, Forceful, Precise, Reach, Swift
Banes: Stunned, Knockdown
WL: 2 (training time to learn)
Maybe WL: 3 depending on setting and making it more compared to regular training b/c of reach]

This can also allow for Two-Weapon Brute to be used with Unarmed Strike.

Massively Deadly & Quick Unarmed Strike (Extraordinary)

Weapon(Massively Quick Unarmed Strike), Deadly 3
WL: 5 (lots of traning OR special imbuing of body)

Defensive Unarmed Strike

One-Handed Melee, Forceful, Precise, Swift, Defensive
Banes: Stunned, Knockdown, Provoked
WL: 2 (training time to learn)

WL 2 b/c you can no longer get Advantage 1 from dual wielding, but you do get it for Defend, and adds +1 to Guard. Some GMs might want a WL 3 for this item though.

Superior Defensive Unarmed Strike

One-Handed Melee, Forceful, Precise, Swift, Defensive 3
Banes: Stunned, Knockdown, Provoked
WL: 4 (training time to learn)

Advantage 3 to Defend Interrupt; +1 to Guard


Dual Wield this, Plus Attack Spec I, Plus Two Weapon Defense = +1 to Guard (total of +2)

Plus Defensive Mastery (+1 Guard +1 Advantage to Defend [Total of +3 Guard, Advantage 4 to Defend with above])
